I have focused on corporate governance and compliance issues since 2005. As such I advise listed, AIM quoted and larger private companies on directors' duties, FCA Handbook and AIM Rules obligations, narrative financial reporting, governance code recommendations and shareholder activism. I deliver frequent induction and update training to directors, boards, general counsel and company secretaries as well as coaching to newly appointed company secretaries. I have also successfully deployed various legal tech solutions to address day-to-day governance and compliance issues. I have spent time on secondment as company secretary of a FTSE 250 telecoms company as well as at the UK Listing Authority (as it was known). I am a member of the Financial Reporting Lab's Steering Group. I've contributed chapters to several books including The Financial Services and Markets Act A Practical Legal Guide (Sweet & Maxwell) and The Business Case for Corporate Governance (Cambridge University Press) as well as writing A Directors' Guide to The Companies Act 2006 in conjunction with the CBI.
