For the better part of three decades I have been engaged in the age-old art of problem solving. Over the course of my career, I have been fortunate to work in industries that have faced complex challenges.My industry experience is broad, and includes banking, health and life insurance, software development, and county government. I have crafted solutions involving mergers, HIPAA regulation compliance, Patriot Act compliance, and State/County government interaction. In my current position, I am most often engaged in developing software on the IBM Mainframe. I utilize COBOL in batch and online (CICS) environments. My current assignment affords me the opportunity to develop solutions using DB2 as the data repository, allowing me to maintain my relational database skills on the IBM platform. The experience I have had with technologies is very diverse, I have developed solutions using:IBM Mainframe – COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, EasyTrieve plus, SAS, REXX, TSO, ISPFIBM AS/400, System 36, System 38Unisys A-series - MCP UNIX, LINUX Microsoft Client/Server .net framework – Visual Basic, C#. Often I have crafted solutions that involve more than one of these technologies.Whatever the environment, the basic challenges remain; it is just a matter of working toward solutions within the given framework, or adopting new technologies that provide more reasonable paths to success. Many times, more than one solution is available, determining and implementing the one that best fits the needs of the organization is always my goal.
