- Six-month contract (later extended to the end of 2016) via MatchPoint Solutions.- Worked as the senior test engineer for a team of programmers in a scrum environment. - The team's product is a web API to Expedia's system for finding and reserving hotels.- Enterprise-scale JAVA environment with hundreds of servers and worldwide transactions.- Tools used include: AppDynamics, JIRA, Chef, Git, Hamcrest, Junit, Scala, and Vagrant.- API testing was entirely in REST, though a SOAP-style interface is still available.- Multiple contracts, including mine, were terminated early during a change of CTO's.

- Six-month contract, via TEKSystems.- Core job was to help create a custom automated testing system called FAST.- Most of the work was done using Ruby and Cucumber on Windows.- Also used OSX, Gherkin, Selenium, Sikuli, Bash, and HP QuickTest Pro.- Tested a web app using the new custom system, Ruby, and Cucumber.- Tested legacy mainframe apps with the new system and a 3270 terminal emulator.- Helped improve mobile app testing (mostly Android) using Image Magick and Bash.- Helped evaluate the compatibility of our mobile app on Google Glass.- Scrum environment with stand-ups, estimates via story points, and scrum coaches.

- Briefly attempted to create a startup business. The basic idea was to combine exercise machines and video games to create new athletic sports, playable by pretty much anyone, and often subsidized by employee wellness programs.- After a few weeks of research, it became clear that I didn't have the right business plan, and didn't have the resources to continue, so I reluctantly bailed out. On the bright side, the experience taught me a lot about entrepreneurship, and the importance of using "lean startup" methods to quickly test ideas and discover problems early.

- Moved to QA in 2006 to create an automated software testing system that was primarily used to check life-critical structural engineering calculations. Responsible for keeping the system up 24/7/365.- Before 2006, developed/maintained code for our product: a large multi-­user CAD system for structural steel. Programmers were encouraged to be generalists, so duties were very broad, including user interviews, color scheme design, UI/UX in both 2D and 3D models, concurrency locking, user input forms, UDP-based activity logging tools, internal data management, and much more.- Selected in 1999 to comprehensively check the entire code base (millions of lines) for Y2K bugs.- Primarily used Linux-based C/C++ for the core CAD code, Tcl/Tk/Python for the CAD GUI, and Bash for the automated testing scripts. Several other languages & tools were occasionally used, including Git, HTML, and Javascript.

- Wrote low-level software for embedded controllers using 8080/x86 assembly language.- Created a video game for the original IBM PC.
