Hey there, LinkedIn Stalker! I'm Will and if you're checking out my profile for the first time, you might as well just set up a Teams call since that's a much better way to get to know me and learn about what I do. (And, yes, Teams is better than Zoom.)But, if you insist on doing some research before reaching out, here's a little bit about me:-Sold books door-to-door for the Southwestern Company when I was in college. Was the most challenging thing I've ever had to do, and there are so many things I'd do differently if I could do it all over again, but I learned so much about the cycle of selling and why people buy that I wouldn't trade my two summers in Vermont/New Hampshire for any other internship.-Moved to Austin, TX after graduating UNO so I could explore new worlds. During my six years in the Greatest City in the U.S.™, I worked in hospitality, event management, direct sales, and sponsorship. I also saw a lot of live music and ate breakfast tacos every other day.-Earned my MBA at the University of Oregon, spending two wonderful years studying in the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center. Traveled to NYC, SF, and China; Worked on projects for KC Royals, Columbus Blue Jackets, etc., and I interned at TrackTown USA for the Olympic Trials, World Indoor Championships. (Actually sold a couple of sponsorship deals as an intern; Very proud of that!) Honestly, there's no way I've fully described my entire UO experience in just one paragraph, so please ask me about it!-Post-graduation, after spending some time to be the Best. Uncle. Ever. in Nebraska, I moved to Oklahoma City to begin a full-time career in Corporate Partnerships. After two years in Activation, I created a new position, in a relatively new vertical within sports (Partnership Strategy) and began to learn how to use Tableau (and relearn PowerPoint; It's still a functional tool!)-Now, I've jumped over from living within Corporate Partnerships to living within BI at the Detroit Pistons. Picking up some new disciplines -- surveys outside of CP, paid media strategies, etc. -- while still getting to advise departments to "make the logo bigger." Thrilled to continue growing in sports, and Deeetroit is helping me along the way.-Outside of my Detroit duties, I just finished my third year of Sports Sales & Revenue Generation at OU (Boomer!), and I'm on my 2nd year as a Steering Committee member for the National Sports Forum. Last NSF Summit, I lost my voice on the final day from talking to too many people.-Nebraska roots, Oregon education. It's why you can find me on Twitter as @CornFedDuck.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that.
Norman, Oklahoma, United States
Teach Sports Sales & Revenue Generation for undergraduate students in the Price School of Business. We cover the four main pillars of an organization's revenue stream -- Media Rights, Corporate Partnerships, Gate Receipts, and Merchandise/Retail -- along with newer ancillary methods like social media, gambling, and entertainment spaces, all while bringing in various guest speakers to expand on various departments that help support each pillar.
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States
Currently using right-brain thinking with a left-brain mindset to create more compelling stories for procuring and retaining sponsorship opportunities. In my first year, I converted a lot of Excel reports into visual Tableau dashboards, helped redesign process inefficiencies, and leveraged our dedicated fan base for consumable insights that were highlighted in both proposal and recap presentations. Am the main liaison for most vendor relationships (Nielsen, Zoomph, YouGov, etc.), so don't hesitate to hit me up if you've got a product that might help increase revenue not only our department, but also our organization.
Passed along my clients to fully commit to strategy. My days will vary, but a majority of my time was spent analyzing third-party research, creating internal studies for proposals and recaps, developing sales materials for teasers and presentation decks, and looking into the future to identify potential prospects/emerging categories.
Oklahoma City, Ok
Was responsible for managing relationships with partners whose yearly investments total 20% of our organization's sponsorship revenue. I also provided support in the creation, developmentand execution of various sponsored initiatives, community relations programs and marketing events. While most organizations keep Partnership Activation Managers away from a client until a deal has been signed, I was fortunate enough to work for an organization that integrated me into the entire sales process, from informationals to pitch proposals to client management. (Always important to keep those sales muscles active!)
Co-host of yet another podcast focused on sports business. (But this one is super niche!) Main focus on discussing topics and interviewing people who work in "Strategy," loosely described as the discipline of using analytics and insights to make informed decisions on ticket sales, sponsorship, social media, etc.Amateur editor-in-training as I navigate Adobe Audition. Advice on how to make my voice sound less annoying is always welcomed.**CURRENTLY ON HIATUS BECAUSE THE PANDEMIC WAS REALLY ROUGH.** Coming back soon?!

opendorse connects marketers with athletes to build social media campaigns. My primary focus was to help build out a sales process to assist IMG College properties (among other properties/brands) with sponsorship activations. After I left, opendorse's business exploded, so they can thank me (and NIL laws) for their continued growth and success.
Eugene, Oregon
During my 2nd year at the University of Oregon, I was fortunate enough to concurrently work with TrackTown USA on a four-person team for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, held in Eugene. While I enjoyed prospecting, pitching, and negotiating contracts with partners, I got the most joy from coming up with creative or innovative activations that matched each brand's persona and sponsorship objectives. (My favorite was KIND Snack's Yoga at Sunrise activation. Simple, but completely on-brand.)

As an extrovert, I prefer to learn through conversations rather than text. So, during my 2nd year at the UO MBA, I launched the Warsaw Sports Marketing Podcast, a sports business-focused podcast that discussed current issues in sport while also interviewing successful alumni (and "Friends of Warsaw") about their current industry roles.I produced, recorded, and edited the podcast for 18 episodes, but handed over responsibilities after I graduated in June 2016. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the sports industry and it coincidentally led to my first post-MBA job!

During my 1st year in the UO MBA program, I helped teach Joshua Gordon's Intro to Sports Business class for all three terms. Lectures on textbook material were taught by Joshua, while I taught and facilitated conversation on weekly article reading assignments. Both of my parents were teachers, so it felt good to finally have the opportunity to be a chip off the ol' block.I also recruited and interviewed over two dozen guest speakers throughout the year, with most guests appearing via Skype. These great experiences with industry pros from MLB China, Nike, Wasserman etc. would be the precursor to me creating the Warsaw Sports Marketing Podcast.

My first taste for corporate partnerships started with the Alamo Drafthouse, the greatest movie theater you will ever attend. (Trust me, go to drafthouse.com, find your nearest theater and see ANY movie. You won't regret it.)Knowing the Alamo Drafthouse loved to produce interactive movie events outside of their theater walls, I created (and became the defacto Tournament Director for) the "Happy Gilmore Charity Golf Tournament."I oversaw all event registration and tournament day production, acquired talent for event*, created promotional campaign to solicit and secure competitor's entries, budgeted for all events and was the main contact for all participants and sponsors leading up to tournament day.
As events manager, I oversaw operations for our nightly receptions. While managing a staff of coworkers, I delegated responsibilities and made sure customer service was performed with professionalism.
I approached over 5,000 families, protected over 400 resulting in $350,000 gross annual premiums (20% above company average)While training, managing and motivating 10 agents for direct sales, I also organized and led over 300 hours of advanced sales and management training
