At Asemio I work with a group of highly engaged and intelligent people solving problems of great importance to equity in society. In this position, so far, I have vastly expanded my technical capabilities including my proficiency of C#, SQL, Docker, Google Cloud Platform, Google Cloud Run, Terraform, and other technologies. In addition to technical growth, I've worked on finding my voice as a leader on a technical team and honed my understanding of Agile and the software development process. Part of this has also included getting better at data model design, application architecture design, requirements gathering, feature design, and much more. Being surrounded by such high performing people as my fellow Asemions has helped me grow as a professional in ways I could not have expected.

When I was at Vitals we were working on changing the broken health insurance industry from within. We partnered with major insurance companies to build and maintain their find a doctor applications and cost estimation tools in addition to our own products which were meant to change how people shopped for their healthcare. I specifically worked on our patient review system and was part of the team that built and launched the second major version of it. The first having been built years before when Vitals was still a much smaller company. In this role I learned and used Ruby on Rails and used Postgres and Docker extensively. I learned a lot from this experience, but ultimately outgrew the role and saw very little opportunity for advancement.

I worked closely with staff in various departments all across the Stillwater campus helping them maintain their respective Drupal sites. This was not a technically challenging position, but I learned a lot about helping folks understand concepts that are unconventional or intimidating to them.

This was my first major paid internship and I used the money to buy a vintage Honda motorcycle. Feel free to ask more about this, but overall, this is where I was first exposed to C#, Agile, and working on a team. I also learned a lot about manufacturing process control.
