I have spent over 18 years in the education sector teaching design and engineering to pupils from all key stages. I have always focussed on quality work, both from myself and those with whom I work and an empathetic approach with my pupils and team members.I have worked with pupils to produce top quality work across the entire age range and have shown that engineering and design are integral parts of all aspects of life and schooling. From building and testing 30,000 year old spear throwers as part of a year 3 history module, to building and testing autonomous electric vehicles to explore alien terrain without human input as part of a year 5 space project. Introducing basic hand and power tools to year 2 pupils to designing and developing innovative snow boards and folding electric guitars with A-level students, I have covered the entirety of the design technology curriculum and all ages and abilities. I have always had a focus on making my teaching as accessible as possible and have worked closely with the learning support departments at every school to ensure that every pupil is able to access my teaching as effectively as possible through a range of techniques.I have also designed and developed electric racing cars as part of Greenpower where I have worked on global competition winners as well as designing and developing my own series of composite race cars which are in the top 25 cars in the world, all built by 10-13 year old pupils in a standard design classroom. These cars have achieved an efficiency of around 2000 MPGe.Outside the education sector, I have lead the design and development of a compressed air powered hybrid car using a modified engine and computer controlled pneumatic injection system.
