Midlands 103's average quarter hour listenership is now 70% higher than when I was appointed in charge of Programming. Despite increased marketplace competition and diminishing financial resources, we have grown or preserved our audience in all key metrics. I was privileged to join KCLR 96FM for its launch phase to assist with a smooth transition from the previous incumbent, CKR FM. I established a popular lunchtime news programme - a brand new format for the area - and formulated styleguides and policies for the news department. It was here that I developed training skills in the guidance of junior.

From a junior freelancer to lead presenter, it was at CKR FM that I learned many of the disciplines that stand to me today. My work concentrated on news and current affairs generation, whether attending council meetings, court sittings or press conferences, to later interviewing the President, Taoiseach and senior Ministers.
