Whilst on a healthcare internship in India, I was motivated by the conditions I observed to set up my own charity campaign - Project sCanBased on the practices and healthcare culture I had observed in the field, I designed and proposed a stratagem to promote the importance of cancer awareness, self-screening and early treatment. My ideas received support from the Indian government as well as private backers with whom I worked to make the project a reality.Participation in events is large, with thousands of volunteers involved each year and now an international student internship program. The project is now managed under the name "Pink Run" by Dr Deepak Soan, Vice- President of the NGO Sai Baba Santhan (SBS), who have extensive experience as a health NGO.

As an intern, I travelled to the Philippines to work with Code Red, an HIV awareness program associated with Ateneo de Manila University, Manila.My role involved developing and delivering lectures, presentations and workshops to promote awareness and prevention of HIV. These were delivered in very mixed settings - from the country's top universities to the most vulnerable communities - and required a highly adaptable approach. Whilst not educating I spent my time researching the disease area and its prevalence in the Philippines.

Following 6th form, I joined the nursing staff on Addenbrooke's Hospital’s specialist Lewin Stroke and Neurological rehabilitation ward.In 2011 I then left to attend the University of Sheffield.Responsibilities included:• Providing care and rehabilitative support for a diverse range of patients including stroke, a wide variety of neurological disorders, and trauma patients• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team Addenbrooke's hospital is one of the largest and one of the best hospitals in the UK and the Lewin ward is known for being one of the most demanding areas to work in. During my time on the ward we won the 'You made a difference' award for exceptional care and performance.
