Helping people and organizations solve their environmental problems, and developing environmental consultants has been my career. I'm not looking for a project, I'm looking for a long term business relationship founded on mutual trust. I believe that "there must be a way" and I bring that philosophy to everything I do. I want my clients to understand what we are doing and why, and so I have built a strong ability to explain things: I believe the line attributed to Einstein that you don't really understand something if you can't explain it to your grandmother. My day-to-day activities focus on environmentally-related strategic initiatives and advice, and problem solving, plus supporting a wide range of our clients projects where I can add value. An environmental consultant since 1985, I spend roughly half my time on client activities, and half on management. While I have peers, I don't know of anyone who is significantly better than I am at what I do. I lead a broadly employee-owned firm with about 80 people. We intend to stay independent and would like to double in size. We prefer to work closely with clients to fit a solution to them rather than have a project handed off to make decisions on their behalf. My personal skills are seeing the forest for the trees, focusing in on essentials, and explaining. Personally a world-class expert in contaminated sites assessment, with a strong creative and pragmatic bent.
