The Professional Practice Researcher Program provides a unique, career-enhancing opportunity to promising new-hire college recruits. During the year long rotation in the Professional Practice Researcher Program time was spent researching issues public filers face with a focus in business combinations and consolidation. Other projects I worked on during the year included various thought leadership projects relating to business combinations and helping plan, produce, and execute the Financial Reporting Update webcast, a webcast broadcast to approximately 10,000 individuals and companies per quarter. The Program enables staff to work with partners, senior managers and managers in the firm’s Professional Practice department in New York, develop their skills in accounting research and improve their oral and written communication abilities. Researchers are exposed to the firm’s technical accounting professionals, who work with standard setters and regulators on new accounting and financial reporting issues, develop firm guidance and consult with our professionals and clients on difficult technical issues.

The Master of Accountancy (MAc) Program is a one-year, professional non-thesis degree program requiring 30-semester hours. The MAc Program provides a broad-based business education focusing on integrating the various disciplines within the profession, enhancing analytical and critical thinking skills, enhancing written and oral communication skills, and understanding the global nature of the accounting profession. Particular emphasis is given to the development of technology skills and the ability to assess business risk and performance.
