Using my marketing abilities, I built awareness on campus for the staff photographer position and succeeded in garnering 2nd place for General Photography Excellence in the Georgia College Press Association Awards in both years while I was in charge of the department.Also, during my second year a Photo Editor, I spearheaded a newspaper-wide redesign that initially started with just a masthead redesign. After weeks of labor, we released a streamlined design that was simpler to read and navigate. In 2005, we did not even place for the Layout & Design award at the Georgia College Press Association Awards, yet, after the redesign in 2006, we took home 1st place in this category.The Colonnade taught me how put my skills to use in marketing, management, design, journalism, and photography.
