Responsible for the pro-active operational management of health and safety within the Faculty of Environment at the University, supporting teaching and research activities. This included the management of safety related personnel, ensuring compliance with legislation and University policy on health and safety matters across the faculty. The role required me to demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and advocacy skills in order to positively influence stakeholders at all levels, ranging from undergraduate students and faculty management staff, to senior academics. I delivered a project to develop a new Health and Safety website for the faculty, and helped produce and present new induction material - aimed at improving engagement and safety behaviour. I also created and delivered training material to other members of staff, to help empower them in their roles.

Responsible for detailed logging of soil and rock samples, liaison with main works contractor and site occupier, troubleshooting technical issues - namely the grouting of mine workings, broken ground and voids - whilst keeping safety paramount to all activities. This was especially important when working in operational areas of the existing hospital site, to safeguard nearby members of the public. • Northampton Borough Council, Flooding InvestigationLed all aspects of the investigation into flooding affecting a number of properties within the borough, from design through to solution proposal. Sensitively managed relationships between the council, local residents and business owners. Employed geological investigation and groundwater mapping techniques to establish the root cause.

Duties included sampling, and subsequent chemical analysis of contaminated groundwater extracted from boreholes around the site. Chemical techniques comprised pH analysis and by-hand titrations.Acquired and collated baseline data used to produce the site's Environmental Impact Assessment.

Worked as a voluntary summer warden at an educational visitor centre. The centre is a registered charity, situated on Dorset's Jurassic Coast, a stretch of shoreline granted UNESCO World Heritage Status for its world-renowned geology.Gave educational and entertaining talks to large groups of members of the public (some as big as 50 people), school groups, and led fossil hunting expeditions around the coast. Produced a business proposal to decorate the wheelchair access ramp to the centre with a large mural.Other responsibilities included liaising with the Friends and Trustees of the centre, advising members of the County Council, and organising local to regional scale publicity events.
