South East England

Responsible for managing all activities relating to the recruitment of individuals onto the Anthony Nolan bone marrow register throughout the South East of England. Recruiting and managing a pool of 100+ volunteers, ensuring that they are trained, motivated, supported, and remain engaged with Anthony Nolan. To ensure that as their skills progress and develop, they understand the charity sufficiently and feel confident in organising and managing their own events. Responsible for co-ordinating the Register & Be a Lifesaver education programme in schools and colleges across the South East of England. This involves training and managing volunteer speakers to facilitate and deliver presentations to schools and colleges throughout the region. Developing relationships with Marrow University student groups across the region and ensure that they are sufficiently supported and supervised.Working with patients and families to promote patient appeals. To act as a first point of contact for all activity in the region and through the use of local/national media and social networking to promote the work of Anthony Nolan.

Uganda

This voluntary position involved fundraising from trusts, corporates, major donors and individuals as well as volunteer engagement and management, and general development of the fundraising strategy. Communications materials and case studies were devised from interaction with headteachers, teachers, and pupils on visits to schools throughout Northern Uganda.

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Working with companies to develop mutually beneficial partnerships, this role encompassed account management of all companies to maximise fundraising potential whilst ensuring that the companies and their employees experienced positive benefits associated with adopting the Sick Kids Friends Foundation as their chosen charity - whether as a long term charity of the year partnership, or for shorter term arrangements. This predominantly involved securing new business, developing employee engagement strategies, devising and managing volunteering opportunities, generating sponsorship proposals, developing CRM strategies and devising innovative fundraising practices on a case by case basis and through utilising the individual company's key strengths and individual identity.

Oxford

Identifying high net worth individuals (both alumni and non alumni), the corporate sector, and trusts and foundations, to personally approach and engage with as prospects for funding capital projects totalling £50m. Maintaining a portfolio of 100+ prospects and donors through effective stewardship and solicitation strategies. For the greater part this involved personal visits to update prospects and donors, as well as hosting them as VIP guests at varsity events such as the boat race. High level individuals were often recruited to assist with stewardship of other potential donors.Alumni and fundraising consultancy for 80+ University clubs. This included sourcing sponsorship deals through researching companies to approach, assisting with proposal writing, and negotiating contracts. Advice was also given to these clubs for alumni development and fundraising programmes including annual fund campaigns, website development, and event organising. As my capabilities within the role of Development Officer developed, I took on more responsibility for project and staff management. I managed a number of major projects from inception through to completion, examples of these being the production of a newsletter to 12,000 alumni, the successful completion of a capital project to resurface an artificial hockey pitch to an Olympic standard, and responsibility for organising numerous alumni engagement events.For 6 months I took on the role of acting Head of Department whilst the position was vacant. Following on from this position being filled, I often deputised for the Head of Department.

This dual-focused position in a very busy office meant that time management, team work, delegation, and target setting were of paramount importance. Alumni relations work incorporated the organisation and hosting of UK and International reunions and specific fundraising events. My assistance in publishing a bi-annual alumni magazine involved sourcing of newsworthy topics, interviewing individuals for articles, and subsequent editing and writing of articles as well as proof reading the magazine prior to print. Fundraising activities centred upon developing solicitation strategies for approaching individuals, companies, and trusts and all involving close liaison with the Vice Chancellor. Furthermore, I also assisted in the creation and smooth running of various fundraising projects such as an annual fund, telethon, and a capital building project for a new Music Therapy Centre.

Teaching Vietnamese children aged 7 to 18, and of all abilities. Building on my skills gained at iecvn (see below), I was responsible for planning and teaching lessons using the variety of materials available at ILA.

Responsible to Jonathan Shearer, Head of EFL. Prior to the club opening, I wrote and taught various courses for staff with specific English needs. These included general office English for the office staff at the club, English for secretaries, English for chauffeurs, and a more general Business English course. Using a general English test as a guide, and with the aid of my EFL boss, I created a new ability testing procedure for written and aural testing. Due to the lack of relevant Vietnamese cultural teaching material, I adapted and re-wrote Western teaching materials to make them more suitable for Vietnamese students. Once the club opened I taught a pre-intermediate class, a beginners class, and a teen class (children aged 12-16

- Responsible to the Operational Director. My role was that of marketing Information, Communication and Technology training to all schools nationally. This incorporated organising exhibitions and conferences; co-ordinating mail shots to targeted counties; creating reports for management meetings, and a variety of other tasks.

Responsible to the General Manager ACTU. My position of customer service and accounts manager entailed my ensuring good relations with 300+ companies and their employees. Excellent communication and organisational skills were essential for these roles. Reports (often completed to tight deadlines) were generated for presentation to the General Manager, Australia wide offices, and overseas offices. As team leader I was responsible for the smooth running of the department as well as interviewing prospective employees, staff training and management.
