My teaching experiences in the classroom have led me to believe there are several ideas that are critically important to developing lifelong learners. These concepts assist in the unlocking of student potential and awakening students’ intrinsic desire to seek newer and deeper pathways of learning. First, teaching involves a responsiveness to students within a safe, inclusive learning environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Secondly, authenticity with my students allows them to expand their understanding of learning beyond the misconception of ‘always getting the answers to right’ to an acceptance of mistakes leading to true learning. Lastly, as I seek to help students cultivate their skills as a problem-solver, I lead students through the challenging struggle of growth through critical feedback to urge them forward on the path towards their solution.
