I am a scientist-practitioner within a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary behavioral health team with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. I have extensive experience conducting and disseminating complex psychosocial research as well as a deep understanding of the micro and macro societal factors that shape access to educational, financial, and occupational opportunity.Born a Mexican American, fluent in English and Spanish, who went on to become a first-generation college graduate—I am passionate about increasing accessibility and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across education, healthcare, and employment. As my history can attest, I am committed to building a career with a deep community impact through which I can support people to live good lives in their communities. We all have a role to play in helping our communities to become more welcoming of diversity to meet the demands of an increasingly highly skilled workforce within the context of a competitive global economy.
