I enjoyed a rewarding 30+ year career managing the development and supply of some of the coldest of size cryogenic systems for a wide range of applications. Over a 10+ year period of demand for large scale helium refrigeration in high energy physics applications, I managed the design, fabrication, installation and operation of turbo-machinery based helium liquefaction systems for the Mirror Fusion Test Facility, the Continuous Electron Beam Acceleration Facility and the Superconducting Super Collider, large scale cryogenic systems operating between 1.8 Kelvin to 4.2 Kelvin.More generally, throughout my career, the applications of cryogenic and vacuum systems under my manage included rocket launch complexes, high energy physics laboratories, particle accelerators, space simulation, ground based energy storage for space based weaponry, supercomputing, alternative fueling for vehicles, hydrogen cooled cold neutron reactor for materials research, development and testing, bulk liquefaction of fluids from LNG (-260 F) for the energy market to 1.3 Kelvin (-457 F) sub-cooled liquid helium for superconducting components, and sub-cooled liquid oxygen and hydrogen systems for space planes. Pretty cool stuff.I am proud to have participated in the integration of cryogenic systems on many rocket launch pads at Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg AFB and I am privileged to have participated as a team member of the U.S. rocket launching community.
