Hi, I'm William Bates. I’m passionate about integrating security into development and operations to create robust, efficient systems. Throughout my career, I've been committed to fostering a security-first mindset and improving the synergy between development and operations teams. My projects have consistently resulted in significant enhancements to security practices and optimized CI/CD processes, ensuring that systems are both resilient and efficient.Currently, I’m working with the U.S. Air Force's 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing, where I focus on improving system reliability and security. This role allows me to apply my skills in a mission-critical environment, developing solutions that support national defense. In my freelance work, I assist various organizations in securing their CI/CD pipelines, automating their security processes, and implementing robust cybersecurity strategies. My goal is always to reduce vulnerabilities and enhance overall system performance.My background in the U.S. Army gave me a solid foundation in secure communications and security audits. I've built on that experience with roles in software development and network security, where I have been able to drive significant improvements in system security and operational efficiency. These experiences have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and solutions in the cybersecurity landscape.I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Computer Science with a focus on Cyber-Physical Autonomous Systems at the University of Colorado Boulder.
