Woodworking has always been a passion of mine from a young age.This passion helped me gain O level woodwork in school. Then City & Guilds in Carpentry & Joinery at Harlow college with the Construction Industry Training board.Then a further year I gained the Advanced Craft certification in carpentry & Joinery.I served a 3 year apprenticeship in bench joinery and then moved on to work with 2 other small joinery companies before starting my own company producing bespoke joinery for for the domestic market. in 2012 I formed William Beard Woodcraft Ltd.This was a bespoke wood flooring company specialising in custom wood floors where I gained extensive knowledge of the complete wooden floor installation process and producing hand finished floors. Also specialising In Herringbone parquet , chevron and Versailles panelled floors. Along the way I spent many years honing restoration skills with countless successes with the restoration of original Victorian pine , English oak, elm , teak, beech and pine plank and herringbone floors. I ceased trading of William Beard flooring in 2016 to start a new venture.In 2017 I formed William Beard Woodcraft Ltd This Combined all the wood flooring aspects along side the knowledge of bespoke joinery and joinery Restoration of period Homes.My work here is high end bespoke fine carpentry and joinery purely for the domestic home owner.My passion is for old school period joinery where 80% of my work is in the renovation and replacement of period joinery windows , doors orangeries and floors.In this field I have developed unique skills and processes to save original exterior joinery where most would have to rip out and make new. This process also gives an option for a unique finish that I have had success in which is the use of Linseed paint which is 100% Natural and gives me the opportunity to provide a restoration finish that will truly last a lifetime, preserving the timbers beneath as well as the planet.My work on these period properties includes bespoke cabinetry and period staircase renovations.In 2019 I formed Evolution Stairs Ltd which I run along side William Beard woodcraft Ltd. Staircase renovations and conversions became another avenue for me with the joinery and finishing and restoration skills I learnt over the years. This again is a high end high quality bespoke staircase renovation company providing staircase alterations, conversions and mainly period restoration of existing staircases in beautiful period and listed homes in west London and in the Essex countryside.
