Senior Researcher
Using a combination of cutting edge microscopy, project management, machine learning driven computer vision, and data analytics, I'm investigating the spatiotemporal relationships of components related to neuronal migration and cancer. This work has required the use of a variety of analytical techniques based in various languages/platforms/environments/disciplines. The bulk of the work is composed on capturing, processing, analyzing, and producing conclusions from microscopy data. This has required the independent and/or combined use of the Python, R, and Matlab languages to complete "Big Data" and multithreaded parallel analysis. Within the languages, a variety of packages have been employed (ANTs, ANTsR, matlibplot, numpy, scipy, seaborn, statistics, etc.) in order to extract valuable, actionable information for communication and further exploration. Utilizing this approach has also required the familiarity with command-line based functions within Ubuntu, Windows, and MacOS. This process involves a high degree of subject knowledge, technical knowledge, organizational capabilities, effective and clear communication, and the highest level of attention to detail possible. In addition to performing scientific analysis and experimentation, I oversee the proper functioning of our multi-modal microscope. In this role, I provide a variety of services spanning experimental design, training users to be independent microscopists, training on appropriate analysis approaches, subject matter orientation on specific microscope modalities, and ensuring the accuracy of the studies being performed. Collaboration with my colleagues is a natural progression of the training process in this environment and has been pivotal in furthering the efforts of others around myself.

Lead a project aimed at understanding the mechanisms behind Hedgehog Ligand transport using a variety of different techniques including Biochemical purification and identification of components using Fast Protein Liquid Chromotography (FPLC) coupled to Mass Spec, genetic analysis using Drosophila Melanogastor, and immunofluorescence confocal microscopy utilizing a variety of microscopes (scanning, spinning disc, super resolution). Understanding the mechanisms behind Hedgehog Ligand release and transport will further our understanding on how different types of cancer utilize the Hedgehog pathway to progress/survive.
Graduate Student
In the pursuit of a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences focusing on Cancer and Developmental Biology.
Research Coordinator
Lead a project investigating the targets of an E3 ubiquitin ligase that has been shown to be a genetic marker for Autism spectral disorder. In order to interrogate this question, 2-D purification of total proteins were analyzed from normal and mutant tissues by Isoelectric point purification followed by SDS-PAGE coupled to Mass Spectrometry identification. By doing this, we were able to identify a protein, that is regulated by the E3 ubiquitin ligase, who is an essential regulator of Dopamine production. Additionally, I assisted the projects of others in the lab in experimental design, execution, and analysis.
