5th Year at RIT graduating Fall 2024 - Earning BS/MS in Computer Engineering - focusing on ML/AI.I am writing my thesis on Spiking Neural Networks, which are supposed to mimic biological neurons more closely than typical Artificial Neural Networks. I have a passion for neuroscience and neurophysiology and am very proficient in programming, so I naturally gravitate toward Neuromorphic Computing.My recent internship at KBR has improved my ML/AI skills, as I worked with deep transformer networks to perform object detection on EO and SAR imagery. I was able to demonstrate that SAR object detection was possible for this kind of object, and the models could achieve high mAP and mAR with excellent classification accuracy. The interns on the SAR team worked to help create a pipeline for object detection so that it would be easier to train models on new datasets and domains in the future. My time as a Boy Scout, especially after I aged out and became an assistant Scoutmaster, helped me learn responsibilities and round myself out as a person. It helped teach me to embrace failure as a learning experience and to put myself in uncomfortable places to grow as a person.
