The System Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Chief Quality Officer (CQO) is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and has direct management of medical staff credentialing, privileging, peer-review and medical staff appointments of all providers (physicians and advanced practice providers). Direct reports include all of UH Hospital CMO’s. The Chief Quality Officer oversees all aspects of ambulatory and in-patient quality, safety, risk, accreditation, patient experience, meaningful use (including MACRA/MIPS programs) and infection prevention through the UH Quality Institute. The Quality Institute (QI) is integral to the education and research regarding quality and safety initiatives throughout the UH System. The CQO works directly with the legal department, human resources and corporate compliance on all aspects of by-laws, compliance, and disciplinary actions. The CQO reviews and approves all registry data contracts and provides evaluation and oversight for performance improvement projects related to the multiple registries. The CQO is the administrative liaison to the Quality Committee of the Board.

In addition all aspects of in-patient quality, safety, risk, accreditation, and infection prevention. The CQO works directly with the Department Chairs, legal department, and corporate compliance on all aspects of by-laws, compliance, and disciplinary actions. The CCO oversees the Graduate Medical Education Program working with the Dean of Baylor College of Medicine. The CCO is the administrative liaison to the Quality Committee of the Board. In addition the CCO is involved in physician recruitment and hospital operations around clinical entities in the hospital.-Interim Hospital Market President 2017-Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery Baylor College of Medicine 12/2015 to 7/2018-System Director for the Orthopedic Service Line Operations for the 13-Hospital SystemBSLMC is the flagship academic hospital in a joint venture between Baylor College of Medicine and Catholic Health Initiatives.
