in 1973 I started working at Hewlett Packard in Palo Alto CA. as a machinest , I worked my way up to the CNC Department after 10 years. I was then accepted into the Tool and Modelmakers apprenticeprogram and was mentored by exceptonialy experienced machinest I then worked as a Tool/Model maker 14 years. Responsibilites were to work directly with the engineers and scients to create any of there ideas including tooling fixturing and custom machinery to create parts for products. All aspects of the work was done by the Tool /Model maker including, sheetmetal, heat treating,Punch Die's, Aluminum die cast and RTV molds, welding brazing all CNC mill and lathe work, Cutter and Tool Grinding, Purchased all tools and material for each project. Another responsibility of mine was to teach CAD at Fremont High School in Sacta Clara once a week.After 29 years i was laid off with the downturn after 911.My wife and I then started our own machine shop "Machined Parts USA" in Livermore CA.Scope of work was Short run production, Tooling, Fixtures, Aluminum Die Cast Molds and helping customers with product development with my experience of materials and machining pratices DFM. After 6 years of maintaince, heat treat, plating, quoting, buying materials, machining and shipping.I went to work for Altamont Manufacturing. There I Manage the two machine shop's in all aspects including reviewing all work for the machine shop for proper equiptment and processes, purchase all tools for stock and custom applications, Design fixtures and tools for production and prototype applications, Design parts and products for customers,QA, detailing, shipping,scheduling create any 2D or 3D drawings for documentation or 3D machining and provide DFM experience with all customers.
