Buyer For Men'S Toiletries, Deodorant And Razors At Sainsbury'S
I am responsible for delivering sales and profit for the men's toiletries, deodorant and hair removal buying area.
Category Planner Baby, Beauty And Healthcare
In December 2016 I became the Category Planner for Baby, Beauty and Healthcare. My role primarily is shaping, writing and owning the category plan, helping each buying area to develop their business plans and secure CAPEX where necessary. I then project manage any of the more complicated plans the category has, which have included reviewing the macro space the buying areas have in the category and rebalancing this with growing areas, working with our suppliers on enhancing our premium beauty areas and working cross functionality across the business to ensure the category plan is delivered.
Online Operations Development Manager
Having moved to a store support centre role part of the 'future leaders development group', I worked in the online operations development team, developing and implementing new systems.I led the testing of the new in store picking system, from script writing based on FD through to execution in test environments. I then was part of the team who implemented this nationwide in 240 sites, spending lots of time with store colleagues ironing out initial issues until it was ready to roll out to all these stores. I then helped select the new picking device for stores, taking that project from shortlisting several devices, through to testing and the initial store pilot before I moved into my next role. Other key parts of my role include developing new processes, as well as using my retail knowledge to support the design and implementation of new systems in our stores.
Deputy Store Manager
I completed the graduate scheme and became the deputy store manager at Forest Hill in south London. My main responsibilities include running the store in the absence of my store manager, coaching the five department managers who report to me and ensuring that we pass all store KPI's.During my time in Forest Hill, I successfully passed an assessment to join the future leaders development group, which has invested significantly in my leadership style and behaviours.
Store Manager In Training (Secondment)
I have recently began training as a store manager in North London in the final stage of the graduate programme. My training is based in Holloway Road local, but I also complete training throughout North London. Furthermore, I attend fortnightly courses in Doncaster, based around technical and behavioural leadership skills.
Retail Graduate Scheme
I am on a fast track retail scheme for future business leaders in line with Sainsbury's 2020 vision. I have organised a team of 20 people to deliver fantastic KPI's on the TU Clothing department within my store, as well as running the whole store of 289 colleagues in the absence of the senior team.I am self motivated to deliver a safe and profitable store everyday, always with customer perceptions at the heart of everything I do. I analyse large amounts of data and then implement it effectively to benefit the business. I also can jump from taking a 'helicopter view' of the store, whilst also noticing the small details that drive retail sales.
Seasonal Manager
I was given a special project to run a team of seasonal colleagues to deliver a successful Christmas at one of the biggest stores in Sainsbury's. I trained 14 temporary colleagues to deliver key KPI's, and merchandised a significant amount of extra space within the stores to drive sales. I ran the store in the absence of the store manager and deputies, and took a had a successful period engaging store colleagues from every department, and adding value to the store scorecard.I achieved sales that placed us second corporately for seasonal confectionary and health and beauty gifting, and delivered the most organised and efficient Christmas planning for the store in recent years. The store scorecard was also significantly stronger than previous years through the three periods I was in the store.
Customer Service Manager
I managed the customer service department in Tonbridge as part of the Sainsbury's retail graduate scheme. During my time in the role, I managed 96 colleagues of all ages and capabilities.Tonbridge is a very intense trading store, with numerous logistical issues that make it a challenging, but rewarding environment to work in. My achievements include finishing top for the half year of the corporate MCM (customer service) table for the checkout interaction, and maintaining a 100% queue length pass during my time there, as well as overseeing two quarters of MCM passes. I also significantly improved the store talkback measure (measure of how satisfied colleagues are with the way they are managed), and provided a sound structure to a department that had not had a manager for five months.
Store Colleague/Section Leader
I did a variety of roles throughout ASDA Broadstairs. I began as a checkout colleague, in 2006 completed my fork lift truck training and became the key colleague in the warehouse. Throughout my time at university I did a variety of departments, including grocery, bakery, GM and produce. My responsibilities were to run an efficient department in the absense of the manager and deliver great service to our customers. This was why I was promoted to be the Ambient Process Section Leader, which made me accountable for availability and a team of eight people. I ran this department efficiently, achieving an average of 97% availability against a target of 96.5%.
Regional Customer Service Improvement
I was given a loose brief to improve the customer service of all the colleagues across the ten ASDA stores in Kent. I achieved this by 'mystery shopping', briefing store managers and HR managers on their results and opportunities, as well as interpreting the data I collected to establish any general trends across the region, and ways of improving service to our customers.Alongside the regional personnel manager, I created a plan to retrain over 3,000 colleagues across Kent. Once this was done, the Kent region finished top of the whole of ASDA UK in it's first customer service audit and I returned to my store.
