Basic Function:Supervise eight trades groups of skilled and semi-skilled in the general,preventive, emergency and preventive maintenance of buildings and systems. These included, Carpentry, Cabinet and furniture making and repairs, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Painting, Welding/Fabrication, Locksmith to include the Trades Apprentice program. Duties and Responsibilities:Evaluate, plan and coordinate all activities that provided a quality outcome for maintaining the interior and exterior of fifty individual buildings. Supervise daily physical plant operations. Support departmental goals and objectives to ensure University resources were used effectively, efficiently and in accordance with approved budgets. Assist in the contracting process for various projects related to developing the scope of work detailed specifications and supervising contractor compliance.The University was located is one of the Historic districts. Most of our buildings were historic, dating back the the turn of the century. any exterior work required presenting detailed preservation plans and specifications for approvals from the City of Newport.
