I’ve been a member of the Food Operations Team since beginning at Ikea alongside my studies, skills I’ve developed in this time include:- Independence – majority of the time, I lone-work independently on the IKEA Food Bistro, meaning I am solely responsible for food prep, including dating and stock take, which requires attention to detail. - Teamworking & coaching – often support new starters with their development and learning when starting in the role, I am to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment. - Driven to support the team, I often work overtime and extra shifts to support the team’s operations in order to meet customer demand.

Rotations throughout the business, provided me a range of experience within the Construction and Tenancy/Letting environment including but not limited to:- Operations administrative work, including: ordering goods & taking prices from prospective suppliers for the business, and shadowing project managers day-to-day. - Moda-Living (Branch-off business) payment processing, tenancy agreement drafting, invoice processing and debt collection calls. - Marketing – supported with speech delivering across numerous sights with the Marketing Team for the company, discussing the roles and opportunities available within the Construction industry – also created the PowerPoint Presentation for these events.- Cold calling - while working here i also had to cold call many new and old customers and have to talk about previous or new enquiries which also gave me a new confidence in this aspect of business

Throughout my time at M&S I worked as a customer service colleague, supporting in-store. Skills gained include:1. Time Management Skills – throughout my shift I would be tasked with a variety of tasks in which needed to be completed by the end of my shift, this enabled me to utilise my time to be best placed to ensure my duties were met. 2. Teamwork & Communication Skills – Working in a large team with the same group goals for the shift enabled me to develop working relationships and offer support where needed. 3. Responsibility & Trustworthiness – working on tills, being trusted handling customers’ money and processing transactions/gift cards provided me with experience in a position of trust and real responsibility. I also ensured we were compliant with meeting H&S concerns i.e. checking ‘use by’ dates and stock. This role came to an end due to the end of my fixed-term employment supporting the store throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and those who were previously shielding, returning to work.
