Dr. Chen is a surgeon, engineer, and multidisciplinary scientist with a career vision to improve human health and longevity. Dr. Chen is currently a research scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He received his M.D. degree and medical training (internship and surgical residency) in Taiwan before pursuing an academic path. Dr. Chen obtained his master’s degree in Biotechnology at the University of Pennsylvania (research advisors: Prof. Paul Ducheyne and Prof. Keith Gooch) and Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh with the dissertation titled, “The Role of Human Blood-Vessel-Derived Stem Cells in Tissue Repair and Regeneration” (Ph.D. advisors: Prof. Johnny Huard and Prof. Bruno Péault). He finished his first postdoctoral fellowship in Biomaterial and Regenerative Medicine with Prof. Yadong Wang at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Chen recently finished his NIH-sponsored joint postdoctoral fellowship in synthetic biology and molecular cardiology at MIT and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) under the co-mentorship of Prof. Timothy Lu (MIT RLE) and Prof. Anthony Rosenzweig (MGH Cardiology). As a research scientist at MIT, Dr. Chen is working with Prof. Manolis Kellis (MIT CSAIL), Prof. Timothy Lu, and Prof. Anthony Rosenzweig to develop synthetic and systems biology platform technologies for high-throughput perturbation, systems analysis of signaling networks, cellular engineering, and cardiovascular regenerative medicine.
