Hello! My name is Braden Chipman. I’m a long time multi-sport Student-Athlete, so I know better than most that a “sports injury”is never just a sports injury. Anything from a minor bruise to a broken bone can have a drastic impact on functions we too often take for granted. As an aspiring Athletic Trainer, I’ve made it my goal to not only be a reliably quick and skilled on-site responser to situations of all kinds, but to be a knowledgeable practitioner of a wide array of injury prevention and recovery techniques. While my official employment record to this point has been retail-oriented, I’ve always kept a foot in the world of Sports Management and Athletic Training. During my time at Plainfield East High School, I managed both the Junior Varsity and Varsity Women’s Tennis teams for three years, all while personally coaching several Men’s Tennis players, and competing at the Varsity level myself. At Joliet Junior College, alongside my studies I spent many hours with the Athletic Trainer honing my joint taping / wrapping and injury recovery assistance skills, as well as delving into the administrative side of the profession by learning to file all sorts of reports. At the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, I plan to explore this career path even further through any clubs, RSOs, internships, or research opportunities I can find!
