Responsible for gathering and analyzing statistics of various textual features in a corpus consisting of scientific literature and personal blog posts with the goal of determining which would be useful for predicting perceived and actual reading difficulty.

Developed both supervised and unsupervised methods for pairing semantically similar sentences. Using those techniques, built a text simplification corpus from Wikipedia snapshots. Explored the practicality of using phrase-based machine translation models to solve text simplification problems.
