Bill Cotter is President and CEO of Physicians Insurance A Mutual Company, a role he assumed in 2019. He has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the insurance industry, both domestically and internationally, as well as both Life and P&C. During Bill’s tenure, Physicians Insurance has continued to expand its leadership in the Northwest and increase its reach nationally through Physicians Insurance RRG, its national risk retention group. As a mutual, Physicians Insurance has affirmed and articulated its singular purpose: to protect, defend and support our Members. This purpose directs every interaction and decision at Physicians Insurance, from underwriting and risk management, to regulatory and government advocacy and most importantly claims defense.Prior to Physicians Insurance, Bill spent 11 years at Allied World where he was responsible for building their Asia-Pacific operations and then was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer for Professional Liability-North America.
