Starting as a temporary staff member, I grew to manage approximately 30 staff at peak having worked in the biggest Games and DVD departments within HMV.Key responsibilities• Developing and maintaining the most profitable and successful Games Dept within HMV, consistently delivering the highest sales and profit margins, and the highest level of standards and record breaking customer service results throughout.• Recruitment, training and development of staff - managing a team of approximately 30 at peak, including temporary, full-time and part-time.• Achieving sales via successful buying and sourcing of stock, merchandising in store and outstanding customer service.• Managing workload to ensure all department tasks are completed through effective organisation, delegation and team building.• Communicating effectively with my team, peers and line managers as well as Head Office.Key achievements• Worked with managers and Head Office to oversee a huge store layout change to relocate and grow the most successful Games Dept in HMV.• Managed a Games Dept that had the highest sales results of any other HMV store.• A key member in making HMV win the first MCV Star Store award in 2010.• Became the Customer Service Representative for the second biggest store in HMV.
