Commercializaiton of a novel, multi-modal, deep-tissue clinical elastography imaging system. Elastography determines mechanical properties (elastance and viscosity) of tissues using ultrasound or MR imaging. Many cancerous tumors, fibrotic tissues, and lesions are typically stiffer than surrounding tissues, but unless they are clearly differentiated from surrounding tissues by reflective boundaries or magnetic properties, they will not appear in ultrasound or MRI scans. These same “invisible” tumors, fibroses, and lesions are plainly visible on elastography scans. Our team’s preliminary clinical prostate studies demonstrated visualization of over 50% more tumors of sizeable mass compared to B-mode ultrasound. Our technology differentiates itself from other products by enabling fast scans of deep tissues in normal and obese individuals.

R&D focused on a regenerative cure for corneal clouding and blindness caused by corneal endothelial dystrophies, such as Fuchs' dystrophy. These dystrophies affect 4 million people in the US alone. Currently, the only cure is corneal transplant (DSEK), but unfortunately, treatment is severely limited by the small number of donor corneas available in the US and Canada (~70k/yr). RashmiVu's novel solution will remove this bottleneck and enable treatment for many more patients.The National Eye Institute (National Institutes of Health) is funding this promising research.
