I currently work as the curator at Dublin Castle. I have a particular interest in building histories (how they were built; why they were built; how they were, and are, used; and the various people who form part of these respective narratives), as well as in the use of one-time colonial buildings by the independent Irish state post-1922.My work is primarily research-based. What I find along the way is used to weave and retrieve stories - to engage visitors, to inform conservation work, to (re)present spaces, and to help grow the Castle's collection through acquisitions. I am currently the curatorial lead on the redevelopment of the Record Tower at Dublin Castle. This exciting project is being undertaken by the OPW with support from Fáilte Ireland, and aims to provided visitor access to one of the most significant buildings to survive on the campus of Dublin Castle. My role is to inform my colleagues (and the visitors to come) on the history of the Tower - its fabric, its use, its occupants, and its stories. The Record Tower will open to the public in 2024.Over the years, I have been involved in many exhibitions, publications and programmes, some of which are listed below:- The OPW's centenary programme to mark the handing over of Dublin Castle to the Provisional Government of Ireland on the 16 January 1922 (2022).
