ReliefLabs was founded as a response to shortcomings I experienced while volunteering a hospital in post-earthquake Haiti. Our focus was on improving field operational efficiency of NGOs working in disaster zones and remote locations.Our largest initiative was EasyTomato, powerful yet easy-to-use router firmware that helps manage internet bandwidth in schools, hospitals, and nonprofits with slow internet connections often found in disaster zones and the developing world. With an intuitive drag-and-drop router firmware interface, EasyTomato allows network administrators with limited IT knowledge to monitor bandwidth and create powerful access restriction rules on a per device basis. Internet routers running the EasyTomato firmware are found around the world and the EasyTomato website receives 7,000 hits a month.

Based out of a desert oil camp in Fahud Oman, I worked as a wireline field engineer, performing reservoir evaluation on new oil and gas wells using advanced hydrocarbon logging tools.I was responsible for running a wireline team and logging truck. This included managing the team of four as well as maintaining, transporting, and operating logging tools and their corresponding radioactive chemical sources and high explosives.The job required leadership skills, a firm technical understanding of the tools, extensive and creative troubleshooting in remote and extremely harsh locations, and managing client relationships with wellsite representatives.
