As a dedicated pharmacist and co-owner of Drilling Pharmacy in Sioux City, Iowa, I’ve spent over three decades fostering community health and advancing pharmaceutical care. Alongside my brother Don, I took over the family business in 1986, continuing the legacy started by my father. Since then, I’ve been committed to providing high-quality pharmacy services, managing a thriving business, and staying at the forefront of pharmacy innovation.Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to several advancements in pharmacy practice. In 1996, Drilling Morningside Pharmacy became one of the first in Iowa to offer Pharmaceutical Care, a new medical specialty at the time. I also joined the Iowa Pharmacists Association Board of Trustees, where I continue to advocate for our profession. In addition to my role at Drilling Pharmacy, I’m passionate about educating the next generation of pharmacists. As an adjunct professor at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy since 2000, I mentor students and contribute to curricular development. Over the years, I’ve helped shape many aspiring pharmacists, earning the Preceptor of Excellence Award in 2019.I’m honored to have received multiple awards, including the Robert G. Gibbs Distinguished Pharmacist Award in 2023 and the Star of Siouxland Award for our store’s remodel in 2010. Under my leadership, Drilling Pharmacy has been recognized for our community impact, from administering over 10,000 COVID-19 vaccines in 2021 to our work with Jackson Recovery Center.Driven by a deep commitment to patient care, my team and I continue to innovate—whether it's through implementing Scrip Talk technology to assist visually impaired customers or participating in the University of Iowa's Cardiovascular Practice Transformation Program. With over 2 million prescriptions filled and a pharmacy that's celebrated 50 years in business, I’m proud of the work we’ve done and excited for what lies ahead.
