The iMMAP CEO serves as the leader and maintains an effective and cohesive senior management team for the organization; sets the tone for the organization by exemplifying consistent values of high ethical standards and fairness; leads the organization in defining its vision; is the main spokesperson for the organization; and bears the chief responsibility in ensuring the organization meets its short-term operational and long-term strategic goals. The iMMAP CEO works with and is accountable to the Board of Directors of the organization.iMMAP is a not-for-profit organization. The iMMAP team was formed in late-1998, leading the first internationally-coordinated effort to combine information management, sociology and Geographic Information System technology to define the scourge of landmines and explosive remnants of war and change the way their impact on society is measured. iMMAP remains the premier humanitarian information management organization, guiding international crisis responders who work to alleviate the suffering of those most in need.iMMAP offers information management (IM) expertise, providing multi-faceted support for coordination across a multitude of humanitarian responses globally through:1) IM and coordination services to humanitarian actors.2) Capacity building; identify weaknesses, recruit staff, provide trainings and on the job mentoring.3) Surge support: provide key personnel to humanitarian actors (UN, clusters, NGOs) offering change management solutions to enhance partners’ tools, methodologies, and capacities to longer term sustainability.4)Specialist projects and consortiums to build sound systems for the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data.5) Best practices in terms of information sharing, enforcing the key principles of the IASC guidelines.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) for iMMAP was responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of IMMAP including management of the profit and loss statement for the organization’s activities, as well as the related resources associated with charity operation. In this capacity, the COO carried responsibility for integrating the strategic plan of the organization with operations. The COO provided management oversight for the development of high quality, cost effective and integrated field programs.

The Director was responsible for the development, execution and management of iMMAP which included: resource mobilization, planning and identification of project specifications, budget development, training, monitoring, executing, and reporting ongoing projects to ensure compliance with technical standards. Projects were implemented in Afghanistan, Armenia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Indonesia, Iraq, Laos, Lebanon, Liberia, Pakistan, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tanzania, and Vietnam.

2/1999 - 09/2001 Working in the Operations Section at VVAF's Survey Action Center planned, prepared, executed, and monitored the Global Landmine Survey program. Completed operations in Yemen, Chad, Mozambique, Kosovo, Nicaragua, Thailand, and Afghanistan. Planned all aspects of the program, including development of technical and personnel specifications, and country survey plans. Supervised, coordinated, and monitored survey team activities. Carried out training of survey teams to ensure standardization of program outputs. Ensured that standards were met, information obtained from survey teams correct, and reported to donors on country survey progress.2/1998- 2/1999 Working with the VVAF Director for Humanitarian Affairs initiated, carried-out preparation and set-up for the Global Landmine Survey. Surveys aimed to identify landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) contamination through their socio-economic impact on communities, thus forming a basis for setting priorities for clearance, economic recovery and development and victim assistance. Prepared an overall program proposal that received full funding. Worked with the Director to recruit program staff and establish the Survey Action Center in Washington, D.C. Convened meetings to establish an international coordination mechanism and develop the survey instrument. Mobilized an Advance Mission to Yemen and established survey plans for selected countries.

Islamabad, Pakistan

Planned, supervised, and evaluated programs of water supply, health, education for Afghan refugees in Pakistan, and voluntary repatriation to Afghanistan; assisting a caseload of up to 2.0 million Afghan refugees in Pakistan. Spearheaded, coordinated, and monitored a successful Community Management Program where approximately 75 Afghan refugee communities were mobilized and trained, technically and managerially, to take-over responsibility for operation and maintenance of piped water supply schemes. Analyzed voluntary repatriation trends and identified key areas in Afghanistan to which return is obstructed. Provided relevant data on return to enable international agencies to better target assistance programs in Afghanistan. Advised the Tripartite Repatriation Commission (represented by the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan, and UNHCR). Designed/modified survey and reporting systems for determining the population of refugees in Pakistan and tracking the movement of refugees from villages in Pakistan to Afghanistan.

Islamabad, Pakistan

Oversaw, in collaboration with the World Bank and Government of Pakistan, implementation of the Third Phase of the Income Generating Project for Refugee Areas (IGPRA) in Pakistan. The project had a total budget of US$ 26 million in three years for rehabilitation/ infra-structural development activities in forestry, irrigation and road sectors; targeting refugee-impacted areas. Monitored progress and participated in project supervision missions to field sites. Initiated and coordinated studies and data gathering in order to assist in the evaluation process and to respond to specific donor questions. Established (in collaboration with UNHCR Headquarters in Geneva) a forum of discussion with international agencies, funding agencies, and organizations in Pakistan on refugee aid and the environment. Coordinated with an independent filmmaker the production of a video documentary (as requested by UNHCR and the World Bank) on the impact of IGPRA and its replication in refugee areas.

Peshawar, Pakistan

Seconded by OXFAM to UNHCR Pakistan to coordinate the Afghan Refugee Water Supply Program (with annual budget of US$ 1.0 million) that was implemented by the Pakistan Public Health Engineering Department and non-governmental organizations. Developed priorities, strategies, program operations and budgets to ensure the provision of adequate quantities of safe water for approximately 2.5 million Afghan refugees in the Northwest Frontier Province of Pakistan. Utilized a variety of technical options for improving access to water resources. Monitored work and evaluated progress achieved emphasizing refugee participation in water supply system operation & maintenance. Rationalized the Government's activities in the program. Assessed the availability of domestic water supplies for impoverished communities living on coastal islands near to Karachi, Pakistan and recommended feasible projects for intervention.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Provided technical and managerial assistance to a Cambodian Community Water Supply Program (co-funded by the British Overseas Development Agency and OXFAM with annual budget of US$ 0.75 million). Developed terms of agreements, program operations and budgets, and relations with other agencies and government departments. Managed and monitored program operations of the Cambodian Government's Department of Hydrology. Trained staff in drilling techniques and operation & maintenance of equipment. Investigated and implemented ways to augment the capacity for local organizations to maintain hand pumps and to construct wells using low-cost appropriate techniques. Formulated an emergency assistance program to provide water supplies for war displaced persons in western Cambodia.

Port-Au-Prince, Haiti

Provided technical assistance to the CARE-Haiti Community Water Systems and Sanitation Development Project (funded by the United States Agency for International Development). Completed engineering feasibility studies and designs for spring-fed gravity-flow water distribution systems. Provided technical assistance for development of sanitation facilities. Managed a field survey team to study the willingness to pay for water services in three project communities (a project funded by Water and Sanitation for Health). Trained local engineers to use computer assisted design programs. Developed operation and maintenance plans for rural water supply systems with engineering staff.

Nashville, Tenessee

Worked with a state regulatory agency to enforce Federal and State of Tennessee water pollution control regulations. Assessed the impact of industrial and secondary waste water pollution on the State of Tennessee's waterways, in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Agency, industries, and regional water pollution control offices. Prepared water pollution control permits under the Federal Clean Water Act for industrial waste discharges and secondary waste treatment plants.

Nashville, Tennessee

Studied regional problems of flooding, and advocated for the protection of watersheds in Harlan County, Kentucky from environmental degradation due to surface mining. Organized community groups to monitor surface mining and advocate for proper watershed management practices. Produced an educational videotape to clarify legal and technical ramifications of the Federal Surface Mining Control Act for local communities.
