William began his professional career at Bear Stearns, Inc. in New York City where he spent six years honing his financial skills while working in various areas of equity trading, convertible bonds, high yield and private client services. William went on to work at Merrill Lynch and then Morgan Stanley in their Private Wealth Management Groups, serving high net worth individuals such as entrepreneurs, professional athletes, and music industry executives. His expertise was even highlighted in Black Enterprise’s “Moneywise: Your Financial Advisor”, January 2003. In 2004 William started The Betts Group LLC, his own private equity advisory firm. As an entrepreneur, William utilized his broad foundation to answer the financial challenges of his clients by providing asset allocation advice, risk management strategies, and equity and fixed income solutions. As Director of Client Development at Dreier LLP, William was responsible for signing professional athletes, identifying marketing and branding opportunities for all new and prospective clients, as well as promoting the firms presence in the sports arena. It was at Dreier LLP that William merged his skill sets as a financial advisor and business manager to not only promote legal services, but to provide wealth management and private equity advisory to all clients. In addition, William was required to create a dynamic infrastructure by implementing a marketing and branding strategy that fits the needs of the firm as well as the individual clients. Within the past two years, William has developed a unique niche of clients consisting of current, veteran and former pro athletes, some of which are aspiring and accomplished entrepreneurs in their own right. Although skilled in many areas, William is best known as a “Rainmaker”.He has the uncanny ability to assess clients’ needs and provide them with timely and obtainable business solutions.
