Results: Formed a joint venture company to locate low-quality coal resources in Indonesia, Australia, and southern Africa for export to Asian and Indian gasification projects. Named to Board of Directors of this company.• Led negotiations with two diverse international companies, one a major international steel producer and the other a US developer of “green” chemicals projects, with the objective of forming vertically integrated joint venture companies. Results: joint venture negotiations are ongoing with paid feasibility studies in progress for both opportunities. Presented both opportunities to the Board and received very positive feedback.

Obtained buy-in from a diverse groups of GE and Bechtel stakeholders for these Alliance Agreements, including those in senior management, technology, construction, project management, legal and marketing. Results: Alliance Agreements with Bechtel were executed. These agreements formed the basis for delivery of the IGCC Product, the form of the commercial offering, and the division of responsibility and payment within the Alliance.Presented Product strategy extensively including to the President of GE Energy, the global GE Energy sales staff, and the Chief Executive Officers and the top senior management teams of several U.S. utilities. Results: Letters of intent to proceed with "launch" projects for the new Product were executed with two major utilities.

Results: The project was competed on time and on budget, and remains an operating success.Elected Chairman of the Gasification Technologies Council, a trade association comprised of over thirty major international companies with interests in promoting gasification. Led GTC in strategic decision to sue the U.S. EPA after its rulemaking inadvertently disadvantaged gasification. Results: Suit resulted in cost-effectively bringing EPA to settlement discussions that resulted in reversal of this rulemaking.Proposed, presented and negotiated all agreements that facilitated the construction by Exxon Chemical of a syngas unit. This unit produces syngas for sale from low-valued refinery bottoms. Marketed the concept, negotiated all agreements, and supervised team that produced technical package and assisted in commissioning and startup of unit. Results: The project was completed on time, met performance guarantees in record time, and remains an operating success.

Convinced project leaders to consider better environmental and financial alternative to their planned construction of a conventional power plant. Led submission of competitive bid which included plans for financing, engineering, and permitting project. Presented plans to corporate management committee, and personally negotiated all pertinent agreements. Results: The proposal was selected based on its innovative design, superior environmental characteristics and its unique financing approach.
