For this role, I have been responsible for maintaining and continuing development of the SYNBIOCHEM Design Pipeline, consisting of Python and Java tools to support the design of plasmids for metabolic engineering. I have also worked on further tools to aid in Synthetic Biology research.My key achievements were:- Upon joining, resolved issues with the existing tools which meant that the pipeline could be used for plasmid design for the first time in almost two years.- Worked with university IT services to formalise deployment processes using Docker and AWS. Reviewed hosting requirements to reduce costs.

This role consists of the development and maintenance of software to assist the managing and analysis of data for local authorities working with young people with a focus on youth justice. Primarily working in C#.NET and JavaScript with a SQL Anywhere database, the sensitivity of the data we support has led to a focus on data security and accuracy.I was promoted to Software Developer because of the reliability and consistency of my work. My key achievements were:- Becoming the lead on multiple customer projects and become involved with the design and requirements gathering stage of new products.- Being given the responsibility of assisting in the instruction of and reviewing the code of trainee staff members.- Given the responsibility of maintaining the company website, which gave me the opportunity to learn PHP.- Making improvements to the system to allow customer compliance with GDPR.- Assessing and delivering statutory changes based on government data collection requirements.- Redesigning a system to summarise nationwide data, to improve its accuracy and speed, and to improve its maintainability to allow a faster response to changes.

In this role, I developed custom software solutions for companies with specific requirements. I additionally took on support responsibilities, answering customer queries and resolving issues.Primarily worked in VB.NET on WinForms and Web Forms projects with a SQL Server database.
