Advises, assists, and counsels the Commander, NCOs, and Soldiers on personnel matters; reviews and consolidates reports, statistics, and personnel actions submitted to higher headquarters; manages unit's Military Personnel Record Jackets (DA 201 Files), medical, and dental records; advises the commander on personnel strength, shortages, and overages; responsible for unit's financial transactions on RLAS; provides technical guidance and training section of 6 Soldiers; responsible for over $75,000 worth of equipment; coordinate quality of life program and promote esprit-de-corps.

Processes personnel for separation and retirement. Processes and executes Personnel Service Center SIDPERS level procedures and actions. Processes applications for OCS, warrant officer flight training, or other training. Processes recommendations for awards and decorations, Processes bars to reenlistment, suspension of favorable personnel actions. Ini tiates action for pass ports and visas.

Prepares and processes recommendations for awards and decorations and arranges for awards ceremony. Pre pares, updates, and coordinates requests for evaluations, to include responding to evaluation inquiries. Prepares and monitors requests for promotions and arranges for promotion ceremony, to include promotion declinations, reconsideration for promotions, and arrange for reduction and removal boards for soldiers on local promotion standing lists. Prepares and monitors requests for reductions, trans fers, and discharges. Prepares and monitors requests for identifica tion cards and tags, leaves, and passes, line of duty determination, MILPER data and information management, orders for temporary duty and travel, personnel processing, personnel Security Clearances, training and reassignment, retention, military and special pay pro grams, personnel accounting and strength management, transition processing, legal, meal cards, training soldier support file, and unit administration.

A prep cook’s role is to assist in the preparation of meals by chopping vegetables, making salads, and putting together entrees. Although this role generally does not include any cooking duties, it provides the ideal opportunity to develop many other types of skills essential to becoming a chef. Such skills include proficiently being able to utilize a wide range of kitchen tools and utensils, include chopping knives and vegetable grinders. In addition to his or her food preparation duties, a prep cook may also be responsible for completing a large number of smaller tasks. Such tasks could include ensuring that leftover food is stored properly, performing kitchen maintenance tasks such as emptying the trash and washing dishes, and testing the temperature of food at specified intervals. Rarely, certain restaurants and other establishments will require their prep cooks to also prepare tables and deliver dishes to dining patrons.
