I am a Wildland firefighter and when not on deployment, serve with my local fire district on a paid per call basis although our department is making the transition to more of a full time with reserves status. When I am not on assignment out of district I stay busy with my home unit SYFD. I am passionate about the fire service and what we as firefighters do for the communities we protect and serve. I enjoy the travel, always working in a physically and mentally challenging environment, and being able to fulfill a duty and calling that is not for everyone. The teamwork and comradery involved in the fire service are two things that I thrive on. There is nothing finer on this earth than to take a thousand strangers, deploy them to the same state or national emergency, and while under great stress and danger, come together as one unit to accomplish a common goal. I believe that these skills, once tempered by fire, can be deployed with great success in any venture.
