As Director of Public Safety, Evans oversees Boston College's extensive campus and the safety of 15,000 students, faculty, and visitors He oversees the Emergency management and day-to-day operations in his public safety role. He helps establish strong relationships with law enforcement, students, faculty, and visitors to the campus. Evans has 43 years of law enforcement experience including five years as Boston Police Commissioner. As Commissioner he made tremendous strides with building community respect and trust and reduced overall crime significantly in the City of Boston. He has handled major events such as Super Bowl parades, World Series events, and significant protests without issues and also played a major role in apprehending those responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing. Evans is passionate about running having completed 61 marathons and continues to enjoy this passion.
