Key highlights include:• Facilitated the delivery of the production reporting system (EDV) application on time and on budget to all BHPB Petroleum world-wide production units. Specific tasks included managing the technical implementation team, coordination of training workshops, change management, development and implementation of the support model for the EDV using Larsen & Toubro Infotech (L&TI) to provide support.• Developed and delivered a production systems support model with defined roles, scope and KPIs utilizing L&TI services as the service provider. Deployed new support model globally to all production units. • Engaged the Petroleum Central Engineering function to capture requirements, draft business case and initiate a project to deploy the PROACT root cause analysis software package globally to all production units.• Proposed, initiated and deployed a partner data sharing solution (DaaS) to capture real-time production data from the Atlantis and Mad Dog fields for the GOM Joint Interest Units (JIU) used for production reporting and field depletion analysis. Managed contract negotiations with the vendor prior to deploying the service. Facilitated the expansion of the service to include additional production units (GOM and APU) and third party service providers (METCO and FRAMO Engineering).

Delivered -o Development, testing and documentation of deployment processeso Effectively communicating them to the other regionso Challenges included management of budget, timeline, change control and communications between multiple vendors and the businesses.• Implementation of the OSIsoft PI Data Historian and network for the Typhoon Boris Field. Project initiated to replace existing data historian and data acquisition system for the AODAT Team. Tasks included:o Facilitated the creation and publication of the functional specifications for the system, network and security requirements.o Negotiated and coordinated with ChevronTexaco in the costing, implementation and connection of both companies network. • Facilitated the deployment a new Global Anti-Virus Initiative to the Americas Region and Trinidad with Trend Micro. Managed change control, scheduling, communications and pilot testing of the product in the region. • Managed the migration of the Novistar Production Reporting System to a managed service under P2ES Inc. Worked closely with CSC and P2ES to define requirements, schedule and timeline needed to transition the service. Challenges included the seamless integration of networks, addressing major application issues and a tight implementation window. Project completed on-time, on-budget and to requirements.

Provide technical leadership in the direction and facilitation of global initiatives for the Petroleum Division. Activities and projects included:• Evaluated, recommended and deployed a cost effective network solution for the Petroleum Information Management System (PIMS) in the Americas Operations and Development Asset Team (AODAT) designed to bring real-time down-hole SCADA data into BHPB from the Chevron operated Typhoon platform producing the Boris Field. Responsible for:• Coordinated the migration of BHPB Petroleum’s WAN to Equant, a WAN Service Provider. The project called BILLBNET involved the Participation in the Petroleum Network audit. Redesign of regional node to the Equant service, coordination of Change Control. • Played a key role in Petroleum’s Enterprise Storage Initiative including the development of requirements, creation of the RFP, tender process and communication of the project to the Houston Site. Facilitated the deployment of the Enterprise Storage Initiative for the Houston site. Activities included:o Creation of sub-teams to work on specific aspects of the storage migration including naming standards and the architecture of the storage system. o Facilitated communication with the other Petroleum regions to address and resolve issues and coordinate global deployment of the Enterprise Storage System. o Led initiative bringing Application and Information Management and Infrastructure and Security teams together globally to address, directory/file naming conventions, filesystem sizes, organizational layout of the system and other technical issues.

Provided technical leadership in the direction and facilitation of global initiatives for the Petroleum Division in the following areas:• As a member of the UNIX SOE Team in both technical and facilitation roles, developed a base login environment and standardized directory naming system. • Facilitated the migration of the Houston site for the first phase of the Standard Operating Environment (login environment, license management and wrapper scripts)• Migrated Houston site to Samba Version 2 (from 1.9) greatly enhancing its performance and security access controls. Samba now properly authenticates each user to the Windows NT PDC. SAMBA allows UNIX file system sharing to Microsoft Windows Clients• Senior technical resource for this project to the Technical Computing Team. Milestones include; defined and developed installation, standards and configurations, roll out of a UNIX change control system (Cfengine) to the site, upgrade of 2 major servers and all Sun Desktops to Solaris 8• Built and automated the deployment of a 4 node Linux LSF Cluster for Petroleum Engineering Team. Facilitated the testing and configuration of the cluster.• Upgraded and automated the Doman Name System service (from 4.9 to 9.1.3) for the "pethou.bhp.com.au" domain. Improved security, performance and administration of the service.• Led testing project to migrate Houston's Petroleum Network to BHPNET. Testing identified key performance problems with the migration, which led to effective remediation.• Actively participated in the Naming Standards Inititative as part of the Global Server (GSU) Project.• Facilitated Corporate IT Security UNIX server security scans, by leading the remediation efforts of the team in identifying and correcting vulnerabilities found in the Houston Site. (Cut identified vulnerabilities number by 50%.)• Coordinate global Unix security audit for Petroleum.

Led the technical direction and implementation of UNIX based solutions for the site and the company worldwide in the support of UNIX computing for oil and gas exploration. Provide technical leadership in the management and support of 7 Sun Enterprise servers, 6.5 terabytes of online storage and 90 Sun and SGI workstations.• Designed and implemented a web-based UNIX server performance and availability system. Wrote scripts to handle paging notifications of failed services and to monitor performance metrics of key system parameters including. Disk usage, I/O memory and CPU utilization• Implemented a Global Petroleum web-based issue management system called Footprints to track and report both operational and project work performed by each regional IT team.• Provided technical leadership to an international team for the development of a standard operating environment for technical UNIX computing, incorporating best practices and methodologies.

Managed and supported UNIX systems focused on Oil & Gas exploration. Trained Indonesian nationals in UNIX systems administration to support a site of 80 Sun and SGI workstations with over 2.5 terabytes of online storage distributed across five NFS, Oracle database and web servers. Demonstrated technical expertise and leadership in the following projects and areas:• Directed 4 systems administrators in the UNIX Y2K readiness efforts to ensure compliance for 80 Sun and SGI workstations and servers in the Balikpapan and Jakarta business units.• Co-led a team to recover the Balikpapan site after a fire destroyed the main office facility and the computing infrastructure. Saved the business unit (net worth: $400m) and the drilling program by moving the site back into production in fifteen days.• As a senior consultant, directed and influenced major projects impacting the UICO company involving a US$5,000,000 expansion program, integration of Sun and SGI systems into a gigabit Ethernet network, upgrade of Oracle and web application services, performance tuning, implementation and enforcement of Internet/Intranet usage and security policies.• Authored disaster recovery and contingency plans for UNIX systems in the Balikpapan and Jakarta offices in response to the political and social unrest in the country focused on minimizing the loss of revenue and protecting the $2,000,000 per day drilling program.• Mentored, trained and directed 3 Indonesian national systems administrators using best practices in the installation and support of geological and geophysical software, application integration (with Tcl/TK Modules system), expansion of the Legato Networker backup/recovery system, disk storage management using Veritas VxVM and VxFS and network trouble-shooting.

Provided UNIX systems administration, network and application integration support of 160 Sun, SGI and IBM RS/6000 workstations and servers for Sugar Land and outlying field operations. Key projects and areas of focus include:• As team leader, led a cross-functional team of professionals that assessed the scientific computing needs of the business unit, designed and recommended a new UNIX computing architecture for the site. $1,500.000 was invested to implement the recommendations.• Developed and implemented a new backup and recovery strategy under budget of $150,000 based on Legato Networker for UNIX systems in exploration and development company-wide. Wrote extensions to the software in Perl to enhance its capabilities.• Primary technical resource that defined and wrote the service level agreements to outsource UNIX computing operations to Omnes as part of a $5m one year contract.
