Divaqua was an MIT-incubated specialty chemicals company committed to stemming anthropogenic environmental degradation and improving access to potable water. Founders Wen Jie Ong, Chemistry PhD candidate MIT, and Will Ferrer, Sloan 2018, were developing and commercializing higher performing, safer, and more cost-effective technology for limiting toxic industrial effluents. We were focused on integrating novel polymeric materials to support wide-reaching water treatment systems innovation.

As part of an ongoing independent study at Sloan, I consulted with Media Lab research personnel in the Digital Currency Initiative on strategies for extending the practical applications of doctoral research focused on novel database structures and interfaces for medical data sharing. Ariel Ekblaw, PhD candidate at MIT, and Professor Andy Lippman conducted research and wrote an influential paper on the proposed application of Ethereum block-chain to EHR and other medical data sharing between patients and providers, and between disparate providers. I conducted a benchmark analysis of the market and operational viability of this new paradigm and contributed to grant applications. More detail on the original paper can be found in the link below. The current group, which plans to grow this fall, intends to advance progress under the header MedRec 2.0 , seeking collaboration across MIT and from industry partners of the Media Lab.
