I retired in 2007 from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I joined UALR as the George W. Donaghey Dean of the College of Business Administration in 1996 after seven years at Washington State University where I served as the Chair of the Department of Finance and the Victor L. Lyon/CCIM Distinguished Professor of Finance and Real Estate. Prior to that I started my career as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Tennessee in 1972 where I remained until leaving for WSU in 1989. While at UALR, I was able to lead the capital funds drive to construct the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Business and Economic Development. This building provides space for the College of Business at UALR at 18th and University. It was funded by a grant of $13.3 million from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, a grant of $1.8 million from the Economic Development Administration and generous contributions from businesses and individual donors in Arkansas. I served 9 years on active duty with the Air Force where I was a Navigator Bombardier in B-52 aircraft at Walker AFB, New Mexico and Griffiss AFB, New York. I left active duty with the Air Force in 1968 due to the Viet Nam War and joined the Wisconsin Air National Guard where I was in graduate school. I then transferred to the Tennessee Air National Guard when I moved to the University of Tennessee where I served until 1985. During this period, I was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and Chief Navigator for the KC-135 aircraft at McGhee Tyson ANGB in Knoxville. I subsequently retired from the Air Force Reserves with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1997. Currently, I am engaged in some real estate investments and enjoying my retirement years.
