I am presently the Financial Controller of Parallel Payments Ltd, which is a Payment Service Provider. Here at Parallel Payments we offer secure, highly efficient payment solutions using leading technology for a coherent e-Commerce experience that benefits our e-merchants and their online buyers.Before joining Parallel Payments Ltd, I was the Financial Controller of Credorax Malta Ltd, which is an acquiring bank licensed by MFSA and forms part of an international group. My Finance Department, which consisted of another seven qualified accountants all reporting to me, was not only responsible for Credorax Malta, but also for the consolidation of the whole Credorax Group. Here, I garnered a wealth of e-commerce experience. Previous to Credorax Malta Ltd, I had worked within the financial sector for 25 years, first with Mid-Med Bank Plc, and when this was taken over, with HSBC Bank (Malta) Plc.As Assistant Financial Controller of HSBC Bank Overseas Ltd, which was a mini bank geared towards meeting the needs of offshore customers, I got a real feel of financial administration and learnt what it takes to achieve success. When in charge of HSBC’s SME office I was involved with planning and budgeting through the compilation of a substantial number of comprehensive business plans aimed to help local businesses to restructure and gear themselves for Malta’s EU accession. Then as part of HSBC’s Management Accounting Team, I was actively involved in the compilation of the monthly management accounts and the Bank’s Annual Budget before this was submitted for eventual approval.At HSBC, I developed various local financial products which gave the bank an edge over the competition. These included Yacht Finance and Yacht lease Finance, which permitted bank customers take advantage of the preferential VAT treatment on Yacht Leases, and the launching of the Securities Trading Facility.
