I am passionate about understanding and protecting the environment. My love of science and the environment comes from growing up in Tasmania, a passion for bushwalking (the tough ones) as well as a love of popular science from Carl Sagan, David Attenborough and Bill Bryson. I believe the complexity and fragility of the natural world and people's connection to it are incredibly important. I am currently completing a Master in Environmental Science online with Edith Cowan University. Units completed include G.I.S, waste management, environmental law and data analysis. I have completed first year of a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Remediation/Chemistry) with Federation University (2020), achieving a high distinction in environmental science, a distinction in earth science and credits in biology and chemistry. Other units included sustainability and science communication. I have worked as a primary teacher for the past 8 years, the first 5 as a classroom teacher and the last 3 as a STEM co-ordinator for P-6. My last role involved teaching 275 students in 11 classes, organising lessons, incursions, excursions, assessment and reporting and budgets. I completed the 2-year Primary Mathematics and Science Specialists (P.M.S.S) initiative with the Victorian Department of Education design to train teachers in STEM concepts. I have strong written and verbal communication skills, teaching students and liaising with staff, parents and the community, including student/parent interviews. I work effectively in a team or alone, supporting colleagues and completing my work professionally. I complete tasks to deadlines and have excellent organisational skills. I am looking for work that includes roles in environmental science, science education or a combination of the two.
