I am an Organic chemistry MS student that is pursuing my original goal of being a pharmacist at D'Youville College School of Pharmacy. I have utilized HPLC, UV-Vis, dissolution apparatuses, and conducted various analyses including content uniformity, blend uniformity, potency assay, related compounds, weight variation, tablet thickness/hardness, tap/bulk density, particle size determination, and many more analyses. In my Graduate research (2009-2012), I worked in the Dr. Wayne Schnatter group, and I participated in the organic synthesis, purification (flash chromatography), isolation, and characterization (by NMR, IR, and GC-MS) of 2-ethoxy-3-phenylvinylketeneiron(0) and cyclization reactions of the vinylketeneiron(0) with 1-chlorohexyne, methyl propiolate, and propiolaldehyde. My thesis involved a solvent study of the cyclization reaction of vinylketeneiron(0) with methylpropiolate in eight organic solvents. I plan to defend sometime in the near future. I participated in Undergraduate research at SUNY Buffalo, under Dr. Troy Wood and made nano-spray emitters/protein digestion emitters utilized with nano-electrospray MS. These emitters were used to analyze prions and other protein markers. Also while attending SUNY Buffalo, I engaged in pharmacology coursework and utilized various biochemical techniques including western blotting, RT-PCR, electrophoresis, ELISA, animal handling, euthanasia and many more.
