Member of the Hartmann Lab group in the department of civil and environmental engineering in the McCormick School of Engineering. Conducting research in alternative therapeutics with a focus on CRISPR mediated mutation in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.

Wrote and received a Grant from the McCormick School of Engineering. Worked independently for 40 hour weeks in the Hartmann Lab. This work was a continuation of previous grants. I studied and analyzed the effects of gene targeting biofilm growth and development in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa through CRISPR mediated mutations. The mutated strains of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa were studied using Crystal Violet Assays and Optical Coherence tomography imaging.

Worked alongside the CSO to develop and test salmonella strains for recombinant protein secretion, with the goals to improve titers and purity of desired proteins in the surrounding media. Constructed and incorporated plasmids with the desired proteins into targeted cells. Organized and performed large scale protein secretion assays. Analyzed secreted proteins through SDS-Page and Western Blotting. Contributed to initial work on protein purification using HIS-Tag columns. Helped to write, edited, and organized wet-lab protocols to help streamline and standardize lab practices. Analyzed and presented findings to the board of the company.

Wrote and received a Grant from the Northwestern University Office of Undergraduate Research. Worked 40 hour weeks for 8 weeks in the Hartmann Lab alongside masters, doctoral and postdoctoral students. My project used CRISPR mediated mutations to target and suppress genes related to biofilm formation in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.
