Bentley Capital is a listed investment company with the objective of making superior returns through active investment primarily in other ASX listed companies. In addition, Bentley has a technology arm which is currently focussed on developing internet based applications. William was a member of the Investment Committee (2009 – 2013) responsible for advising on investments made by the company.

Strike Resources limited has iron ore projects in Australia and southern Peru, South America. William is a founding director of Strike and was responsible for the commercial negotiations surrounding the project acquisition and subsequent joint venture operations. By 2008 Strike Resources reached a market capitalisation of $300 million and had successfully raised approximately $100 million in funding.Since 2006 William has spent considerable time in Peru; in 2013 as Managing Director of Strike he relocated to Lima, Peru with his family for 18 months to manage the development of the project. In 2014 William returned to Perth and focussed on developing new battery minerals projects (which were subsequently spun out into Lithium Energy Limited (ASX:LEL) and the Paulsens East Iron Ore Project which successfully delivered its first shipment of high grade iron ore to customers in China in 2022.

William was a key member of the executive team that managed a group of public listed technology and investment companies from 2000 to 2006. During this time, William was involved with the development and commercialisation of a range of internet based telephony and security applications, prior to these companies being transformed into resource-focussed enterprises.During this time William was also involved in a number of corporate takeover actions, taking advantage of the end of the ‘dotcom boom’ to amalgamate the cash resources of several failed technology companies.

William spent 18 months based in Manila, the Philippines as Country Manager for New Zealand technology company Azimuth Consulting. Azimuth had secured a contract to manage the Y2K rollover for PLTT (the main Philippines’ telecommunications carrier). William was responsible for managing the team of 30+ expatriate technology consultants for overall delivery of seamless telecommunications services during the Y2K transition.

William was responsible for developing and implementing a major international investment expansion program for TCNZ (New Zealand’s largest company) in South East Asia. TCNZ’s objective at the time was to expand operations in the high growth regions of SE Asia through joint venture infrastructure investment. William spent considerable time in SE Asia (Particularly India, Thailand and Malaysia) developing relationships with industry players in these countries and forming joint venture companies to bid for major (> $300 million) telecom infrastructure projects. Contracts were won in India, but a change of corporate strategy in 1997 resulted in the shutdown of Asian operations.William was then tasked with reviewing technology business development opportunities in New Zealand and Australia, including the establishment of a technology venture capital fund.

Following his emigration from UK to New Zealand in 1988, William worked successfully in technical support and sales roles for a number of computer technology and telecommunications companies.

Libya

After graduating from university, William joined SSL as an engineer. He was posted to Libya where he spent two years involved with the exploration for new oil and gas deposits. During this time he acquired experience in resource exploration and was responsible for the management or large (100 plus) teams of local workers.
