My name is William Box, I am a Southern Illinois local and aspiring journalist aiming to combat misinformation and advocate for a more equitable society, and I love what I do! I am ambitious in the workplace and I aim to be the best in whatever I do.I am currently a news reporter for the Daily Egyptian, the student newspaper at Southern Illinois University, while I attend with the goal of attaining a bachelor’s in Journalism and Mass Communication. Before the end of the Spring 2023 semester, I plan to become the editor-in-chief.I have two years of managerial experience in which I coordinated the outreach, planning, and general management of a local bowling center by the name of Nu Bowl Lanes. While there, I managed our social media presence on facebook and coordinated with Drive Social Media Consultants on how to maximize our potential outreach in our local area. I created and managed our website, nubowllanes.com, by teaching myself how to use Wordpress. I also taught myself to use HTML and CSS. I organized fundraisers for a number of local businesses including a Toys for Tots drive and a pet adoption fundraising event. I participated in the interviewing and hiring process and managed the staff on the busiest nights of the week, staying late to ensure that all work was completed to standards as well as performing inventory checks at the beginning of each month.I have experience leading and working intimately with teams, so let me be a part of your team today!
